Designing and building the touring structure for Caitlin Shepherd’s sound installation, Sanctuary. This toured sites around the Uk in summer 2014.

Pinetum Residency
2014

A residency exploring pine trees coordinated by the Sondry Folk collective. I stayed in the Pinetum and learn about Conifers.

Wild City at Knowle West Media Centre
2014

“Wild City” brought together a community photographic project in an exhibition at the knowle West Media Centre. I transformed the photos into scenes of the Northern Slopes, and played with projects to produce portals into Knowle wests Green spaces.

First attempt to making a tool that lets a hunter see as a deer. Deer can’t see the spectrum of orange so it camouflages the box from their view.

A collection of objects and prototypes that explore how to make fire using traditional friction methods through mechanisms and machines. They were made possible by the space and support of NKD in Dale, Norway.

In the spring of 2012 I went to Hereford to work with Mike Abbot in the woods, assisting him on his chair building course. A silent workshop set in a woodland, glorious! It was a fantastic way to learn about trees and the nature of wood and to gain confidence in making skills at a human pace. A huge inspiration!

George Cake
2010 Installation

Worth a mention as it remains quite a memory for me. Collarorating with Alexandra Parry, we made a 3/4 sized man shaped cake (robot shaped in truth…) named George, to mark the closing of the culture and music haven that was The George. There was a room where it laid for several hours for good byes before being taken on a procession. The room alive with candles and a surge of wild chanting, before being devoured by all guests.

Imagining four alternative food rules for the future, including prokaryotarians (people who only eat single celled organisms) and the visual nostalgia diet. The meals explored the choices we make and how they relate to our compassion in others.The dishes were accompanied by questions. Presented at the East London Sukkah.

As kefir grains divided and multiplied, shelves are populated with Jars.  and excess jars of Kefir bacteria are given away with care instructions to visitors from the area in return for a story, image or recipe of their culture. Housed at FARMshop in east London.

Limina were drawn together with an interest in creative rural Hubs. We ran the Feast of Strangers at the Tree House Gallery, where strangers were invited to come take part in a menu of conversation by philsopher Theodore Zeldin and reconnecting with nature through ‘Wild Wisdom’ workshops. We went on to run events at the The Quadrangle and  Secret Garden Party.

2008 Installation and meal

Water was distilled and filtered from the nearest water source to be served, a London canal or Gavenny stream. A meal was served that consisted of dishes that required roughly a tennis court sized piece of biologically productive land to produce the resources it consumes and absorb the waste it generates.

2008 Exhibition

SLOW was put together with the intention of reflecting on the way time is prioritised in the context of contemporary society and artistic production. The exhibition was a debut for ‘Living with Food’, an alchemists table full of designs exploring the way we interact with food and  ‘Mass production’, an ever reflecting image of a pear.

2007 Antique furniture, stag oak branches, concrete.

The furniture was transformed by wild stag-oak branches, as if years of neglect have seen trees take root again and take over public spaces. It became a surreal and enchanting space in Covent Garden, London.
